Conference Dinner – with flavor from the West!

The Conference Dinner at the Melbourne Aquarium will be a night to remember largely thanks to a special joint sponsorship by Curtin University of Technology, Edith Cowan University, Murdoch University and The University of Western Australia.

The conference will feature one of Australia's most compelling and inspirational speakers – and, a band with such talent, variety and sparkle that even the sharks will want to dance. The band, Resolution, is sponsored by the specialist Melbourne communications and public relations firm Robert Masters & Associates. Talented Melbourne tenor Cameron Mitchell will join Resolution for some special numbers. Acclaimed Melbourne harpist Liena Lacey will provide a musical welcome for delegates at the pre-dinner drinks.

In short, it will be a night of knowledge, entertainment, relaxation and great camaraderie.

Conference Dinner speaker Paul Gardner - Group Chairman (Australia and New Zealand) Grey Global Group Australia - will unveil Grey's 2007 Eye on Australia Report which, shows how consumers view their lives, their country and their challenges – with education touching many of the core issues both directly and indirectly.

Paul will present a summary of this year's findings and highlight some potential implications, particularly for the education industry.

Resolution is a top Melbourne five-piece band led by Sheona Urquhart (vocals and sax). Making the music with Sheona will be Josh Fitopolous on keyboard, Daniel Belog on electric guitar, Patrick Kilby on bass and Daniel Craig on drums.

Appearing with Resolution will be Cameron Mitchell, a second year music student at the University of Melbourne, who has featured in a number of musicals in recent years including West Side Story, Starbound 2, Starbound 3, My Fair Lady, Jesus Christ Superstar and Fame.

There will be time to chill, dance, make merry or whatever after two hard days of conferencing. Resolution turns it on – from easy swing to jazz to the latest pop… a variety that will suit delegates from the youngest of marketers to the most reserved of the executive staff.

Resolution has been playing together for five years. Their music is underpinned by scholarship too: Sheona has just completed her final year at the Victorian College of the Arts, Josh and Daniel C are both studying music at Monash University, Daniel B is studying music at NMIT and Patrick is an established full-time musician.

As delegates are served pre-dinner drinks they will be able to enjoy the beautiful, lilting strings of Melbourne harpist Liena Lacey. Liena studied harp at the Melbourne Conservatoire and has recently completed a graduate performance diploma under Alice Giles at the ANU School of Music. Liena's repertoire is diverse. Last year she performed with a jazz trio, folk band and as principle harp with the Australian Youth Orchestra. Some were lucky enough to catch her improvising with didgeridoo!
