Roger King is Visiting Research Professor at the Centre for Higher Education Research and Information (CHERI) at the Open University. He is also Research Associate at the Centre for Risk and Regulation (CARR) at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Previously he was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Association of Commonwealth Universities (2003-5), and an Adjunct Professor at Queensland University of Technology, and also at the University of the Sunshine Coast, in Australia (2001-3). He was Vice Chancellor of the (now) University of Lincoln in the UK (1989-2001) and the founding Chair of the Institute for Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (now the Higher Education Academy) from 1997-2000. He is a member of the Board of the Observatory on Borderless Higher Education, Series Co-Editor of the Palgrave ‘Universities into the Twenty-First Century’ titles (with Noel Entwistle), and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Regent’s College, London.
As an independent consultant he is currently acting CEO of the UK NARIC for international qualifications equivalence and Chair of the Steering Committee for the Hobsons’ international student enquiry management network. Recently he was a key part of the research team that investigated university league tables for HEFCE.
Currently he is researching and writing Governing Universities Globally for Edward Elgar publishers (publication 2009)
